Account Director
We’re looking for an account director with a strong corporate communications and public relations background who excels in serving and counseling clients. They must be able to independently lead and grow key client accounts with high-growth potential.
This person must proactively take initiative, driving projects forward while inspiring, leading, and energizing teammates to tackle new and unexpected challenges. The account director will guide and develop mar/comm strategies, oversee activation, lead client meetings and ensure that we always exceed client expectations for quality and experience. Previous experience leading client accounts in an agency setting is required.The person we’re looking for is curious, collaborative, resilient, inclusive and committed to quality. They will own multiple accounts, help guide and grow staff members, have visibility to the executive team’s business strategy and decision-making, and have an opportunity to contribute to the agency’s culture and overall success.

Employees with 1-3 years of consecutive service will have 18 days of additional PTO; employees with 3-5 years of consecutive service will have 22 days; and employees with 5 or more years of consecutive service will have unlimited PTO. The number of PTO days available during a person’s first year of employment will be negotiated during the hiring process and depend on factors including hire date, seniority, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities
This position would oversee all aspects of key accounts, including client relationship nurturing, integrated marketing/communication strategy, program development, and management of multiple teams. This person should have a keen eye for detail and a willingness to speak up confidently to provide smart, strategic counsel. Responsibilities would include the following:
- Independently develop and refresh strategic communication plans that support short- and long-term business objectives for key clients.
- Lead program messaging and content in multiple channels (internal planning, writing, graphics, video) across accounts.
- Work with clients to translate their leadership’s vision into easy messages and narratives, tailored for different internal and external audiences, all laddering up to strategic goals.
- Ensure all messaging developed on behalf of clients is evidence-based, highly strategic and polished.
- Act as the primary client contact and foster ongoing, trustful client relationships.
- Manage individual and team hours in alignment with scope(s) of work.
- Manage budgets for assigned client accounts and ensure delivery of strategic counsel and communications that exceed client expectations.
- Review monthly performance report, collaborate with assigned team members to monitor performance.
- Review monthly invoices for accuracy.
- Take advantage of internal and external networking opportunities to enhance professional development and agency visibility.
- Mentor other team members (specifically account managers, senior account executives, account associates and other strategists).
- Significantly contribute to agency marketing and business development efforts.

Requirements

Experience:
- 5-10 years of relevant communications experience, at least some in an agency setting.
- Strategic and creative thinker who always sees a path forward.
- Demonstrated ability to grow accounts and build client relationships.
- Exceptionally strong writing and presentation skills.
- Experience in a PR or related consulting agency setting is required.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Location: Virtual position with periodic travel to Columbus, Ohio and/or client location
Salary Range: $85,000 - $125,000
