We’re thrilled to have Jessica Ohaeri join our Slide Nine team as an account executive. A recent graduate of a top German business school, Jessica joins with initial experience in the energy industry and experience in a consultancy setting.

What brings you joy at work? What inspires you?

I have spent most of my life as a student and found that viewing every experience as a learning opportunity brings me joy and optimal outcomes.

I like to be excited and intellectually stimulated and the fast pace of the news cycle easily lends itself to that. I’m inspired by the creativity and intelligence of others which is one of the reasons that I am excited to join the Slide Nine team. I recently had a great conversation with some coworkers about mottos, mantras, or philosophies that inspired us, and so many things came up during that conversation that resonated with me. We talked about the meaning of excellence, viewing every task as a solution and preparing for our inevitable successes.

What drew you to the communications field?

I studied psychology because I have always had a desire to understand myself and others on a deeper level. As a former academic and a current ‘armchair’ psychologist, I like to think that psychology is essentially all about stories. The stories we tell ourselves about ourselves and others.

I took a storytelling workshop in grad school and I loved it but I wasn’t sure how storytelling would fit into a career for me until I got an internship in the emerging European lithium industry doing communications and investor relations. I loved telling the story of my organization's role in the energy transition and working in a fast-growing industry at a critical time made me feel like I was part of the story as well.

‍How do you approach creating a memorable client experience?

With intention, attention, and humility.

‍What trends are you keeping an eye on for 2024?

I am excited to see how different industries change in response to AI. I suspect that artisanal work will become increasingly valued.

‍What’s the biggest win or most exciting work you’ve done throughout your career?

I previously worked out of the Berlin office of a global management consulting firm on an internal project regarding business building. After that, I worked for a German pre-revenue lithium company. Both companies offered unique exposure early on in my career.

What tools/websites do you use to keep up with the latest trends and news?

One of my favorite podcasts right now is The Journal by The Wall Street Journal and Spotify. The episodes are around 15 minutes long. It’s an easy, low-commitment and approachable way to learn something new.

‍What are you listening to while focusing on getting work done?

I listen to classical music, Bossanova, and jazz. Foreign language music as well.

What are you most looking forward to in your role with Slide Nine?

I am excited to continue to learn and grow while doing good work. I studied management so I think the industries that our clients are in are exciting from a business perspective and I like being able to expand my knowledge while creating value. I am also excited to learn more about the media and become a better communicator.
